Homestyle Turkey Gravy

A very simple and basic gravy that is thick and rich and packed with great turkey taste. Make this gravy stove top in a pan and you are ready to go. You don't have to worry about having pan drippings from the turkey for this but if you do go ahead and remove the grease from it and add turkey stock to make the one cup called for in the recipe. This will enrich the gravy even more. A very generous 1/4 cup serving has less than 3 grams of carbs. I hope you enjoy.

Homestyle Turkey Gravy

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
1 garlic clove, minced
2 Tbsp. all purpose flour
1 cup low sodium turkey stock
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tsp. ground sage
2 tsp. thyme, chopped
salt and pepper

Melt the butter in a medium saute pan over medium high heat and add the garlic. Stir and lightly brown the garlic. Add the flour and stir well. Continue stirring and cooking the flour for about 2 minutes. Slowly add the turkey stock while whisking . Whisk until thoroughly combined. Sauce will be very thick. Reduce heat to medium and whisk in the heavy cream and herbs. Simmer for about 3 to 5 minutes. Sauce will be thick and coat the back of a spoon. If it is too thick for your tastes you can add more turkey stock a tablespoonful at a time until the desired thickness is achieved.
